Butterfly display

It's got the biggest display of its class

There aren't really any other notebooks in the sub-notebook weight class that have 10.4 inch displays. Unfortunately, we're talking VGA resolution (640×480). It would be sweet if it was higher resolution but even SVGA (1024×768) isn't really that big. As one of my colleagues puts it, "too small is still too small."

The video controller is a Chips & Technologies 65545. It has 1 MB of video ram. A detailed data sheet is available (the one I have is revision 1.2, October 1995).

If you're going to run some kind of Unix with X Windows, it might be time to learn how to use the Virtual Desktop feature of tvtwm. Or the virtual desktop feature of the XAccel or XFree86 X11 servers.

All this being said, it is a really excellent display.
